Welcome to our (provisional) website. First of all: congratulations to all of you for having been admitted to the University of Cambridge. Three exciting years await you!
As you probably know or will soon discover, your time at university is not only about studying for your degree in the narrow sense: It is also a time to try new things, to meet interesting people, and to find out or work on what you are passionate about. At the Wilberforce Society you can do all of this in a welcoming and open-minded atmosphere, no matter what you study or what your individual interests are.
How much you want to get involved is entirely up to you – maybe you are satisfied with coming to our events at which broad ideas or specific policy proposals are discussed; maybe you want to write the occasional article for our blog; or maybe you want to work on a longer piece of research on an issue that you feel you have something to say about. At the Wilberforce Society, there is room for all of these things! Why don’t you have a look at the ‘policy papers’ section of our website and visit our blog to get a sense of the kind of work that students have done for TWS.
Most importantly, come and see us in order to find out more about TWS! Have a chat with the Committee at the university-wide Freshers’ Fair on October 7th and October 8th 2014 at Kelsey Kerridge Sports Centre; or talk to us at Freshers’ Fairs at Emmanuel College and at Churchill College. We’ll be happy to answer any questions!
The dates of our Freshers’ Squash and our first events in October will be confirmed soon, so like us on Facebook to get the latest updates.
Thank you very much for your interest in the Wilberforce Society. The TWS Committee wishes you a good start to your time in Cambridge – and we very much hope to see you in October!
